I need to bring the Gaysie Blog up to date but, NOT TODAY. Here it is February 21, 2023 and I have missed a number of important and interesting cruises and boat technical interests and issues. Cruises with interesting photography to be reported later are:

ICW: Deltaville to St. Simons

Stops in Portsmouth, Coinjock, Morehead City, Bald Head Island, Georgetown, Charleston, Savannah stopping for service at the Hinckley Service Center in Thunderbolt, GA

Explorations from St Simons around coastal Georgia especially Jekyll Island and a great trip to Savannah with John and Erick.

Overnight exploration down the ICW and Nassau Sound to Sawpit. Past our house in Amelia Island, then back for a side tie berth at Fernandina City Harbor Dock.

I will fill in all these blanks with photos and Katy commentary… later when there is time.

In an earlier post we described our car trip to Reedvillle and the Maritime Museum. On this cruise we wanted to see it by boat. Also we needed a good 3-4 hour run to exercise the propulsion systems and clean the bottom.

The Corotoman is a tributary of the Rappahannock just past thhe creek that leads to Tides Inn and Irvington. It is referred to in guides as having significantly more wilderness that most of the other “Rivah” areas. This proved to be true, especially after passing Merry Point.

Merry Point Ferry is a cable ferry. The cable can be seen in the closeup phot by zooming. Katy will add more about the history of the Merry Point Ferry and area in general.

We were able to transport our Hobie Lynx pedaling kayaks down to the marina in the Yukon, one at a time. A truck would have been nice. We splashed them the next week to explore our immediate surroundings. We made three trips.

Captain John of the F.D. Crockett. An historic buy boat of the Chesapeake. Captain John gave me a brief description of the local creeks from the Piankatank up to the Wicomoco (VA) River up at Reedville. More later…

We spent two nights in Portsmouth at the Tidewater Yacht Marina. We had a great time walking around both Portsmouth and the more familiar to us, Norfolk.
